The integrated radio monitoring network was set up to consolidate one satellite radio monitoring center(SRMC) and ten regional radio management services into a network on a nationwide scale. Each region operates one regional station and multiple local stations. The CRMS is in charge of commanding and controlling these stations.
The CRMS monitors international distress frequency 24 hours a day for the safeguarding of human life and
property. The CRMS is also in charge of monitoring services for important communications (related with dis-
tress, urgency, safety, and emergencies) performed by vessels and aircraft, and supervising them not to
cause interference and jamming.
To establish a healthy operating environment for amateur radio communications in Korea, the CRMS organized
regional voluntary committees to monitor HAM activities against illegal operating items. The Korea Amateur
Radio Direction Finding (KARDF) contests are held by under the joint auspices with the KARL to promote ama-
teur radio usage throughout the country.
